All of this horrible economic news is making me really nervous. So I’m rethinking my strategy (again). May just shift out of real estate over the next year or two and/or do only one project at a time that I’m personally financing.

I’d like to report that things are just peachy around here and I’m getting on with life, but really I am beginning to understand what a fair amount of folks who have been through similar tragedies have told me: the second year is harder than the first.
I think my first year, although tough and sad and crazy in many ways, was also a year of denial. Denial that my living standards will have to change. Denial that perhaps I won’t be able to afford to live in the house I love, send my kids to the school we all love or remain self employed, which I really love. The one-year anniversary of Mike’s accident is this Saturday/Sunday.
Kind of puts a lot of pressure on a gal to try and come up with something fitting to recongize this milestone. Although I’ve racked my brain to come up with something, I’ve decided that this is an impossible task.

Next weekend (Sept 5, 6, and 7) is a meditation weekend that I would like to attend and volunteer at. Friday evening 6:30-9pm, Sunday morning from 8 until 12:30 am and Saturday is the biggie–8am-5:30.
Is there anyone out there who might be able to do a playdate or babysit during all or part of this weekend?
A spend-the-night on Fri would be great as I tentatively have a sitter lined up who could pick the kids up.

Well, we’re back into the swing of things. Both Marley and Avery are now in school and I have some major catching up to do in every department from laundry to gardening and business and friends.
Oh well, not too many hard deadlines for any of this. But it does help to wear blinders when entering the chaos of the home office.
